Mistra-SWECIA at IPCC's SREX meeting
Mistra-SWECIA researcher Lars Bärring was present at the IPCC meeting in Uganda last week, where the Summary for Policymakers of the SREX report (Special Report on Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation) was approved.

As stated by Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the IPCC, the summary provides insights into how disaster risk management and adaptation may assist vulnerable communities to better cope with a changing climate.

Lars Bärring participated as a member of the Swedish delegation at the meeting. Richard Klein, also a Mistra-SWECIA researcher, and a lead author of the SREX report, was also present at the meeting.

The full SREX report will be released in February 2012.

Mistra-SWECIA will also in its coming second programme phase continue its work with extreme weather events.
