Third World Climate Conference decided to establish a Global Framework for Climate Services

Markku Rummukainen and Elin Löwendahl report from the third World Climate Conference (WCC-3) that was held in Geneva in early September. More than 150 countries were represented at the conference. After expert sessions and discussions, the conference High-level segment agreed on a Conference declaration that decided to establish a Framework for Climate Services. The Framework will now be planned in more detail and presented to the WMO Congress in 2011. Many of the results of Mistra-SWECIA will likely be highly relevant for the aims and purposes of the new Framework.
