The spruce bark beetle workshop

Anna Maria Jönsson summarizes the spruce bark beetle workshop co-organised by the two Mistra-programmes Mistra-SWECIA andFutureForests , at the Department of Ecology, SLU in Uppsala. Central topics were the risk for spruce bark beetle attacks in the future and possibilities for forest management adaptation. The main objective of the workshop was to scope and develop the cooperation between FutureForests and Mistra-SWECIA. As a result, the documentation of historical outbreaks is now going to be used to evaluate and improve the spruce bark beetle module performance.

Mistra-SWECIA Science seminar: The effects of different energy sources and technological progress on climate change
Fossil energy and technological progress are two important factors that potentially influence climate change. Today, the main source of energy is fossil energy, and its use generates CO2-emissions with global warming as result. Technological progress can however improve the energy efficiency and potentially lead to the implementation of alternative clean energy sources that may partially or fully...
