Simulating precipitation over Africa with a new version of RCA

Colin Jones, Grigory Nikulin, Anders Ullerstig, Patrick Samuelsson and Ulrika Willén present results from a new version of the RCA model run to be used in some of the Mistra-SWECIA impact
modelling research. They run the RCA model over Africa for the period of 1997 to 2007 using
the new ERA-Interim reanalysis as lateral boundary conditions, and examine the modelled
precipitation characteristics. These, in turn, will be used to complement the study on how climate
links to regional health effects.

Mistra-SWECIA Science seminar: The effects of different energy sources and technological progress on climate change
Fossil energy and technological progress are two important factors that potentially influence climate change. Today, the main source of energy is fossil energy, and its use generates CO2-emissions with global warming as result. Technological progress can however improve the energy efficiency and potentially lead to the implementation of alternative clean energy sources that may partially or fully...
